Vampires flock to Barrow, Alaska, where the sun sets for about 30 days, allowing them to feed without the burden of sleep to avoid lethal sunlight. The series has been followed by numerous sequel series, and in 2007, was adapted into a film of the same name. It was also the first full-length work by co-creator Ben Templesmith.
